SUNSET / PARKSIDE, San Francisco — Families planning to use Parkside Square should note that the playground is scheduled to remain closed until late November 2026 for replacement of worn safety surfacing.
San Francisco Recreation and Parks says the closure began July 27 and concerns the play area within the 7.5-acre park at 28th Avenue and Vicente Street. The recreation complex also includes tennis courts, a basketball court, baseball facilities and a community garden. The city describes the playground as an accessible facility serving both younger and older children, with play elements and a walking path.
The posted late-November target is an estimate rather than a confirmed reopening date. Other park features may remain available during construction, but visitors should read on-site barriers and check official updates instead of stepping into the work area.
What local residents should know
Parents and caregivers can use the city’s park directory to find alternative playgrounds until the resurfacing is finished. The posted park hours are 5 a.m. to midnight, with winter restroom hours of 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., subject to temporary changes.
